Milk Glass and Moss

I thought I would blog about a little table setup I did today.  Nothing spectacular, but I do LoVe the simplicity of using milk glass mixed with moss and simple stems.  I used berzilia, hydrangea and moss.  A grouping like this would be ideal for a budget conscious bride!

Happy Happy Day!

My personal favorite color is orange so this bouquet just makes me happy.   And,  I was super excited to see that event planner Kristin Mullen at Events by Kristin had recently blogged that the hot color for 2012 is Tangerine Tango!   Tangerine Tango is a bit more reddish orange than the orange ranunculus I used in this bouquet.  But, I will take any orange I can get!  I am looking forward to this trend.  Click HERE to read Kristin’s blog.

I made this little bouquet for a good friend’s bridal portraits.

Rustic Elegance

It was a beautiful 74 degree day here in Texas, in FEBRUARY!!  So, why not whip up some rustic elegant floral arrangements and do a little tablescape.  I just love the mix of creamy yellows, pinks and whites.  Especially when mixed with wood accents and my great-great grandmother’s antique linen.  We may be dining outdoors tonight, minus the linen.   For the arrangements I used a mix of white hydrangea, yellow stock, white lysimachia, white lisianthus, cream spray roses and dusty miller.

DIY Alternative Centerpiece

I kind of cringed as I typed DIY.  The latest trend in the wedding industry is DIY which although is possible, can cause tremendous stress on a bride as well as those she has convinced to help her set up and do the dreaded “tear down” on her wedding day.  The reason I am calling this post DIY is because I think DIY is possible for your reception if you stick with non floral centerpieces.  I created this table on a whim today after surfing through Pinterest.  Even though I put my own twist on what I saw, I do have to credit Centro Garden for the inspiration.   With all credit given, I have to say this table was easy to set up and it took about 20 minutes to create.  So, to my future brides and blog readers…. I WILL be supportive of your  DIY reception ambitions as long as you leave floral “arranging” and ceremony florals (bouquets, bouts, etc) to me!  :)  Deal??

DSC_0019

DSC_0023The main inspiration I took from Centro Garden were adding the little rock crystals.  I love how raw it looks with the exposed wire.  And of course I had to use burlap since its my favorite thing to decorate with.

Sarah and Peter’s Wedding

I just have to say that I think Sarah and Peter may be two of the nicest people I have ever met!  I know they are probably sick of me telling them so, but they seriously just radiated sincerity and graciousness to all the wedding vendors involved.  Sarah and Peter came to me with a pretty clear vision of what they wanted, they just needed some help making it happen since they currently reside in Brooklyn, NY.  They are super creative and I loved how they incorporated meaningful details into their reception.  Sarah’s middle name is Daisy so you will see the daisy theme throughout.  Also, make sure you check out the cake topper a friend of their’s from NYC made.  Thank you Nine Photography for the beautiful images.

Winter Floral

I am seriously obsessed with silver brunia balls and dusty miller for holiday arrangements.  I just love this look for a winter wedding too.  391779_2560906976862_1079670682_32661653_1202829193_n

Lacey and Scott’s Reception

Lacey and Scott were married in Hawaii earlier this year but they had their quaint reception at Gather in Downtown McKinney this summer.  Lacey wanted her floral and decor to be eclectic and non-traditional.  Peacock feathers were the inspiration for the color choices, and I threw in a few feathers on the table decor too.  And for those that don’t know about my obsession with burlap, Lacey wanted to incorporate burlap into the design so I was thrilled.   I truly feel Lacey and Scott’s reception was special in that  Kristin Mullen with Gather, Marcie with Unique UniqueKate Mefford Photography and Emily Youngblood of Blessed Unions all worked together beautifully to pull off one heck of a party!  Not to mention, I was given a sample of the pecan pie made with love by Gather and about died….so I can only imagine how yummy the rest of the food was!!  Thank you Lacey and Scott for allowing me to a part of your day!  I loved your vision and was so happy to help bring to life.  Here are some images from the day courtesy of Kate Mefford.

ruffled18Seriously, how cute are Lacey and Scott!?!

We did a mix of hydrangea, cabbage, poppy pods and succulents for the arrangements.  I covered the vases with handmade burlap rosettes with peacock feather accents.

We used a mix of old boxes, moss, mason jars and old bottles to create lots of texture.

I loved the all white teapot collection on Gather’s back wall.

Notice the picture wall in the background…fun way to make your reception more personal.

ruffled12 We hung burlap draping from the awning to spice things up a bit.  Instantly made me want to start hanging burlap all over my house.  :)

What I love about events at Gather is you have the unique retail items for sale at Unique Unique (which is part of Gather) as part of your decor.  And I am pretty sure Ms. Emily and Ms. Kate ended up going home with a few items that night!!  There were lots of lovelies that I had my eye on as well.

ruffled16Wishing you much love and happiness Lacey and Scott!!

Erin and Brian

I really enjoyed working with Erin for her June wedding in McKinney.  Sydney with Blessed Unions described Erin’s style to me as organic and natural, yet still elegant and I think that is a pretty much perfect way to describe her.   I seriously think Bella Donna Chapel is one of the most beautiful chapels I have been in.  The photos do it more justice than any description I could give!  Also, thank you to Leslie Spurlock Photography for sharing her images with me.  The antique style is just gorgeous and I love the way it captures my floral designs in a whole new light!

Chrissie and Dan

I was so happy when Chrissie told me she wanted PINK for her wedding colors!  I think pink is just perfect for a Spring wedding and most importantly… spring = peonies.  Aww, lovely pink peonies!  Chrissie’s favorite flower is the stargazer lily so that was incorporated throughout the reception and bouquets.  I had a blast working with Chrissie and her mom Andi.  The two of them together were just fun to be around and I hope we can all keep in touch.  Here are a few pictures from Chrissie and Dan’s Wedding and Reception at Fairy Tale Manor in Frisco, Tx.    Thank you Kate Mefford for the, as always, fabulous pictures and it was also a pleasure, as always, working with Emily Youngblood of Blessed Unions.

201 resizedThe bouquets were a mix of hydrangea, pink calla lily, stargazer lily, pink peony, and pink garden roses.

235resizedIt was just a “little” windy that day.  :)  But it did make for some fabulous portrait shots of Chrissie and Dan.

99I have said it before, I have a thing for carnations.

475resizedI just have to give a little shout out to Lauren at Fancy Cakes by Lauren.  She made my wedding cake and I loved working with her.  I thought Chrissie’s cake was seriously one of the sweetest cakes I have seen!  Loved it.

365resizedI think there may have been mixed reactions on how “cute” this was, but I thought it was a priceless picture Kate captured of him having picked flowers off the pomander ball (see background) to what I hope is to give to the sweet flower girl.  Just plain cute.

272resizedGorgeous, and see what I mean about working that wind!

Thank you Chrissie and Dan for letting me be a part of your special day.
