Rebecca and Chris- Wedding

Rebecca and Chris are such a good looking couple and are seriously two of the nicest people I have met.  Chris had recently returned from overseas for the big day, then the week after their wedding they moved to North Carolina where Chris is stationed in the U.S. Army.  Busy newlyweds!  I really enjoyed getting to know Rebecca, her twin sister Rachel and her mom, Rhonda.  They were such a welcoming family that I wanted to invite myself over for dinner!  ;)

The ceremony was held at First United Methodist Church in Van Alstyne and the reception was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Allen.  I want to go back to downtown Van Alstyne and explore because from the quick glimpse I got it looks like there are some cute little shops!

Rebecca’s style was elegant, yet unique and I loved her colors of latte, ivory and green.  Here are a few pictures from her and Chris’ wedding.  Enjoy the fab pictures courtesy of Lindsey Murphy Photography.  Check out her website here.  And I adore her blog design, check it out here!

Magpie’s Cake

Check out the amazingly creative and super sweet cakes by Magpie’s Cake.   Unfortunately for us, she is in the D.C. area but we can dream right??  And maybe get some inspiration from her designs that we can use locally.   I can’t even pick a favorite!!

I am a sucker for chocolate color wedding cakes.   I love when brides step outside the white cake tradition.

Baby Oliver is here!

On July 15th, Nathan and I welcomed baby boy Oliver to the world at 7:15 pm.  He weighed 8 lbs, 8 oz and was 21 3/4″ tall with long skinny feet and arms.  We are not sure where he got his height from!

Upcoming Weddings

With all the craziness of about to have a baby I may be a little slow to post what this blog is really all about!  I am hoping to wrap up a post on Lynsie’s beautiful wedding at Coyote Ridge Country Club.  Lynsie was an absolute joy to work with and I can’t wait to share some images from her big day.

I also am working with two more lovely brides, that you will have to wait till September and October to see the pictures!

I am so excited about these upcoming weddings and so grateful to be working with super cool brides who came to me with fabulous color palettes and ideas that makes my job even more fun!

Oliver’s Nursery

It has been 38 weeks and counting…. I am at that point where I am ready for Mr. Oliver to make his debut.  I am so grateful to be pregnant, but I will admit these last few weeks have been a little rough!   I thought I would share some of Oliver’s nursery pictures with you to cheer myself up and as a distraction to stop obsessing about my due date!  ;)   As mentioned before I went with an owl theme for the nursery, but I didn’t want too much overkill of Owl, so hopefully I got it right with a mix of whimsy and owl and some adorable fabrics from Sandi Henderson.  I loved decorating his nursery, and I think it is one of my favorite pregnancy memories!

DSC_0144

I just love the Sandi Henderson fabrics that we had the bedding made out of.  It may be a little more “grown up” than baby, but I have never really been one for traditional baby “themes”.

DSC_0141

It all started with the owl prints I found on Etsy, by artist Lee Arthaus.   I had bought them before I knew if Oliver was a boy or girl.   I started to realize as the decorating started that the nursery was looking more boyish….so thank you Oliver for complimenting my design ideas!  ;)

DSC_0147I love the pom pom wreath my friend Megan made…I think it ties the whole nursery together.   The owl nightlight was my grandmother’s and I like having a bit of her memory in the room.

Now, all we need is the baby to put in the nursery!!

Oliver’s Baby Shower

Baby Oliver will be here soon and I am a lucky girl to have great friends who hosted my baby shower over the weekend.  We decided to have the shower at my house that way friends could check out his nursery.  (I will post pictures later!).   Amy, Jamie, Heather and Megan showed up early to get the party started.  I was so impressed with all the creativity that went into the details.  Amy made sure to find out my favorite foods, which of course is anything cheese related…and brought a yummy assortment of cheese related items and some other stuff of course!  Megan went all “crafty queen” on us and showed up with 2 tubs full of decor and hand made items.  Megan needs to have her own Etsy store!!  She is super creative, and I am already seeing potential “wedding related” projects in her future if she is up for it!  After I looked back at the pictures, I noticed I only took pictures of food and decor, no friends..Woops!

Oliver’s nursery has a owl theme, so Megan created a woodland theme…

I love the use of the old thermos as a vase.  Cute!  And those butter and chive biscuits by Amy were to die for!

Chocolate owl lollipops and critters!

Amy had the cupcakes made to match the invitations.

The desert table.

DSC_0123Megan made the pom pom wreath and the fabric banners.  Glad I have an obsessive friend who is willing to spend DAYS making the wreath!  ;)  It looks adorable in the nursery.  She also picked coordinating Sandi Henderson fabrics to make the banners.

Thank you to all my good friends who shared this day with me, Nathan and Oliver on the way!

More Fun Boutonniere’s

I couldn’t resist posting this idea from Martha Stewart Weddings.  I may just have to use her idea if I have a bride that wants a little something different for her bouts.  I think the herringbone fabric is my fave of the bunch.  So cute!

Sarah’s House

I get my inspiration for floral and event design from all aspects of design.  Speaking of, I am totally addicted to HGTV Canada’s show, “Sarah’s House”, the farm house episodes.    I always watch the home design shows and only like certain aspects of the designers’ choices.  But Canadian designer Sarah Richardson could come to my house, blindfold me and just take over!  You can check out her latest farm house project here.

There is absolutely nothing I have seen her do in her renovated farm house that I don’t like…seriously!  I find myself wanting to jump in my car and drive straight to the nearest flea market or antique mall.  Canton or Round Top may have to suffice..which isn’t too shabby.   Check out this kitchen!

Yes, I have a thing for antlers…even though my husband will never quite understand the

reason/purpose of having them around the house!

I just adore the staircase detail.  Why not have fun with stairs??  She just took old iron numbers

and turned the staircase into whimsical art!

Photo’s from HGTV, “Sarah’s House”.

Funky Boutonniere’s

If you are bored with the idea of a traditional boutonniere and are looking for a something a little more unique, I adore the handmade bouts from PixelandHank’s shop on Etsy.  I just love the different textures!   Just looking at their bouts gives me inspiration of fun ways to “decorate” around them!  Did I mention I have a thing for burlap? Click on the picture and it will take you to PIxel and Hank’s shop!

Here we go!

What a start to 2010!  I am so excited to be announcing my new venture into the world of event design.  After years of “decorating” and having a passion for rumaging through antique malls and flea markets my goal is to bring this increasingly popular wedding look to you.  My office is already starting to overflow with nick-knacks and I forsee needing a warehouse in my near future!  I plan to keep my blog current with industry trends as well as throw in a few of my “favorite things”.  Here we go!
